How to play Reaction Time Test

This reaction time test measures the delay between a green signal and your tap. Complete five valid rounds to get a median result in milliseconds. It is a quick browser game for comparing your own attempts, not a clinical assessment.

The rules

  1. Tap the pad to prepare a round, then wait while the signal is not green.
  2. Tap as soon as the pad turns green and displays GO.
  3. Complete five valid responses. An early tap asks you to retry that round.

Controls

Use a mouse click or touchscreen tap on the large pad. Keep your finger or cursor in position before the signal appears.

How scoring works

Your score is the median of five response times in milliseconds. Lower is faster. Early taps do not count as valid results.

Tips for your next round

  • Respond to the change in color instead of trying to predict when it will happen.
  • Compare attempts on the same device and input method; screen refresh, touch processing and browser load can change the result.

Why use the median?

After sorting five times, the middle value is the median. A single unusually slow response has less influence than it would on an average.

Can this diagnose slow reflexes?

No. This is an entertainment game, and hardware and playing conditions affect the measurement. It does not provide a health assessment or a verified population ranking.
